Amplify Africa, In Partnership With Chick-Fil-A & The Shade Room, Launches $5,000 Video Contest To Amplify Voices In Africa & The Diaspora

Videos Must Be Posted No Later Than Wednesday, Friday, 17, 2021, at 11:59 PM PST

In a partnership with Chick-fil-A and The Shade Room, Amplify Africa launches a $5,000 short video contest from February 1st through February 17th to amplify the voices in Africa and the diaspora. The Amplify Africa Video Contest is a way to celebrate and recognize the unique qualities and similarities that exist between African Americans, Afro-Caribbean’s, Africans on the continent and those who make up the international Black collective. The winner will be announced on Friday, February 26th, at 1 PM PT/ 4 PM ET via Amplify Africa’s IG page.

To enter into the contest, the content creator must follow Amplify Africa’s IG account, then post a 30 – 60 second video on his/her IG feed that showcases how he/she bridges the gap between the continent and the African diaspora. To finalize the submission, tag @amplifyafrica and use the hashtags #AmplifyTheDiaspora and #AmplifyAfrica. Video submissions must address the contest theme, “Bridging the Gap between Africa and the Black Diaspora.” The winning vote will be based on originality, so think outside the box.

Video submissions will be judged as follows:

Content

  • Did the video address the theme of the contest?
  • Was the information clear and well expressed?

Creativity

  • Did the message provide a unique perspective? (Creativity of idea)
  • Clear audio and video quality
  • Did the video production display innovative use of design, materials and ideas? (Creativity of total product)

Overall effectiveness of delivery

  • Was there a standout message that was clearly communicated?
  • How engaging was the message?
  • Is the viewer compelled to keep watching?

PRIZES

On Friday, February 26th, the winners will be announced on Amplify Africa’s IG page at 1 PM PT/ 4 PM ET. The $5,000 will be distributed in the following manner:

First place: $2,000
Second place: $1,500
Third place: $1,000
Fourth place: $500
