Sheila C. Johnson, CEO of Salamander Hotels and Resorts will address the 15th annual Travel Professionals of Color (TPOC) conference slated for May 18-21, 2017, at the Reunion Golf Resort and Spa in Kissimmee, FL.
Salamander Hotels and Resorts manage, or own a portfolio of luxury properties throughout the United States, including the AAA Four Diamond-rated Reunion Resort. Johnson is one of the world’s foremost entrepreneurs. As Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Johnson is the only African American woman to have ownership in three professional sports teams: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals, and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Johnson also serves on the Executive Committee of the United States Golf Association.
Johnson’s reach into the entertainment industry extends far beyond her co-founding of Black Entertainment Television. She executive produced the Screen Actors Guild nominated film The Butler, directed by Lee Daniels and four documentary films, including Kick It.
Johnson served as a global ambassador for CARE, a leading humanitarian organization that combats global poverty by empowering women. She also served as a member of Accordia Global Health Foundation’s International Council, rallying support to overcome infectious diseases in Africa.
